                 A Fish for a Fish

The Stream of Dreams Salvaged Dreamfish Program

Is your Stream of Dreams mural beginning to look old? You may be able to use the old fish to create a "Circular Economy" at your school.

A circular economy is one in which we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them as an alternative to traditional linear use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of their service life.

How to begin:

  • Remove the old fish from your fence and collect the wires                                         Stream of Dreams will recycle wires for you

  • Access the condition of the fish – broken, rotten fish will need to be discarded

  • Wipe fish with a mild solution of vinegar and water, and let dry

  • Apply a coat of water-base varnish to the art side of the fish

  • Attach/staple/screw a pop can tab to the back of the fish

  • Attach up to 4 tea cup hooks to the lower edge of fish

  • Have students sell a fish to their family or community for $15

Depending on how many fish can be salvaged you can fund up to 100% of your new Stream of Dreams program and participate in the circular economy.
